ROBUST FUNCTIONALITY INCREASES VISUAL APPEAL AND EASE OF USE
The San Francisco Art Institute had over 300 pages of content representing the varIous graduate and undergraduate departments making use of two different and very outdated content management systems. The challenge was to bring all the content together under a one interface, organize to make navigation easier, keep important links a click away, and also to promote upcoming events and news items. The site design needed to be distinctive and appeal to a very discerning audience of undergraduate and graduate art students, faculity and alumni.
The project requirements made it a perfect fit for Drupal. The various content areas of the site was set up with different user permissions so the process of updating the site could be decentralized, but still managed well. Open source modules were leveraged so that functions such as events, news, and dynamic display of artwork could be implemented in a cost effective manner. The site was an Official Honoree at the 16th Annual (2012) Webby Awards, and built in collaboration with the Stoller Design Group, who handled the design portion.
